Hello, I’m Ilya, the founder and chief explorer at Russia.place. I’m an ethnic Russian who has only visited Russia a few times, but I’ve lived all my life abroad. My personal journey has been a diverse and international experience – frequently visiting Russia during my childhood, living in the USA for 11 years, England, Scotland, Norway, Italy, then moving back to my home country of Estonia, and now settling in the vibrant city of Tbilisi. These varied life chapters across different countries have deeply enriched my understanding and appreciation of cultural nuances, especially those of Russia. My early visits to Russia left a lasting impression, sowing the seeds for my profound connection and fascination with this vast country. This platform is born out of a desire to share the majestic and often untold beauty of Russia with the world.
